When your body is relaxed and your mind is peaceful, you are ready to explore your spirit and connect with your inner self. So wherever you can be comfortable and relaxed, all you need to do is:
Sit and close your eyes,
Make your spine straight
Witness your breathing
Watch your sensations and thoughts like a movie without judgement
When thoughts coming notice it, acknowledge it and gently put you focus back to breathing.
When you do it, after few seconds you will notice your body is getting more relaxed and your attention will go to your breathing. When you keep watching your breath, you will notice you have started breathing deeply. That's good!
Keep breathing deeply and watch & feel its sensations. Now is the challenge, how long can you watch your breath. Maybe it's just for few seconds in the beginning, maybe just 10 seconds, that's ok. Start again. The day you can watch it for 20 mins, you will have the taste of here and now, or taste of being present.
Watching our mind and making it busy in focussing on the breath, takes us out of the worries of our mind stories or instincts or past and future. It becomes fully alert and aware about the present, that is mindfulness. And with the mindfulness when you see the world:
If it's exciting, That's not it! If it's powerful, That's not it!
If it's simple, That is it! If it's peaceful, That's it!
The inner journey starts from the place of mindfulness of here and now.
